Method
- Make the gummy worms ahead using their linked recipe. Chill until fully set and unmold the small worms needed for these servings. Have the homemade coconut milk for the smoothie prepared and chilled too.
- Set out food-safe serving beakers or clear drinking glasses with enough room for the drink and a worm at the rim.
- Make the linked Orange Coconut Milk Smoothie, including its raw egg yolk, ripe fruit, homemade coconut milk and ice. Follow its measured recipe and blend until the fruit and ice are broken down and the color is even.
- Divide the smoothie evenly among the serving glasses, leaving room above each portion for the garnish.
- Lightly coat the serving worms with coconut oil to taste, as their recipe directs for added fat with cooked fruit. Set one worm over each rim, with part of it resting inside the drink.
- Serve immediately while the smoothie is cold and lightly frothy. Keep the remaining gummy batch covered in the refrigerator.
Notes
Full GAPS: Use after raw fruit, coconut, raw egg yolk and the gummy ingredients have been introduced and tolerated. Serve as a between-meals fruit snack. Follow both linked recipes for ripe banana, homemade coconut milk, plain gelling beef gelatin and their other ingredient conditions.
Contains: The smoothie contains a raw egg yolk. The gummy worms contain beef gelatin. Use coconut oil with the worms for this dairy-free serving.
Prepared components: At 1×, one batch of the linked smoothie gives two drinks and uses two small worms. At 2×, two smoothie batches give four drinks with four worms. Make the milk and the gummy batch before this five-minute drink preparation; their preparation and chilling take additional time.
Serving: Keep the worms whole for the garnish and add them after blending and pouring. Serve the smoothie immediately. Keep unused gummies covered in the refrigerator for up to five days, following their own recipe.
