Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 1 serving
Course: Beverage, Dessert, Snack
Cuisine: American, GAPS

Ingredients

  • 2-2 1/4 cups ice made from filtered water smaller pieces blend more easily; stay near 2 cups if uncertain
  • 1/4 cup warm filtered water or properly prepared homemade almond milk, warmed slightly
  • 1/4 cup homemade fermented peanut butter from soaked, cultured, fresh-water-cooked peanuts
  • 3-4 tablespoons raw honey 3 tablespoons for less sweet; 4 tablespoons for full sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon homemade vanilla extract without added sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure cinnamon with no additives
  • 1/4 cup homemade coconut cream or fully cultured homemade sour cream after dairy introduction; use one, not both

Equipment

  • Ninja Professional Plus Kitchen System BN801 full pitcher and secure lid
  • Dry measuring cups and measuring spoons
  • Small heat-safe cup for warming the filtered water
  • One tall serving glass
  • Freezer-safe glass jar or jars optional, for make-ahead storage; leave 2 inches headroom

Method

  1. Put the scaled ice in the Ninja BN801 pitcher. Use smaller pieces when possible and stay near the lower end of the measured range when uncertain.
  2. Add the scaled warm filtered water, fermented peanut butter, raw honey, homemade vanilla, and cinnamon over the ice in that order. Hold back the coconut cream.

  3. Secure the lid. Start on low and increase to medium-high. Blend about 1 minute, until the hard ice clatter disappears, every ice piece is gone, and the mixture is uniformly light tan with no watery layer, honey streaks, or oily patches.
  4. Add the scaled homemade coconut cream and blend again only briefly, until completely uniform. The finished shake should be smooth, hold a soft mound, and contain no sharp ice crystals or visible separation.

  5. Taste. The ingredient range already supplies the less-sweet and full-sweetness versions; if starting at the lower end, add only the remaining scaled honey within that range and blend briefly.
  6. Pour into the scaled number of tall glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

Full GAPS: An occasional between-meal treat after properly prepared peanuts and the chosen cream form are introduced and tolerated. This is not an Introduction Diet recipe.
1x yield: 1 serving. Finished volume varies with ice size and blender movement.
2x: Use 4 to 4 1/2 cups ice, 1/2 cup warm filtered water, 1/2 cup fermented peanut butter, 6 to 8 tablespoons raw honey, 2 teaspoons homemade vanilla, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/2 cup coconut cream for 2 servings. Confirm the pitcher capacity and blend in batches if needed.
Cultured-dairy branch: Replace the coconut cream with the same scaled amount of fully cultured homemade sour cream after dairy introduction.
Make ahead: Freeze in freezer-safe glass with 2 inches of headroom and loose lids. Thaw in the refrigerator 4 to 6 hours, breaking up the shake as it softens; reblend briefly for the smoothest texture.
