Cuisine: American-inspired, GAPS

Ingredients

  • 1 whole fully ripe spotted banana frozen; or use yogurt below
  • 1/2 cup homemade 24-hour GAPS yogurt optional; use instead of banana
  • 1 cup homemade coconut milk or properly prepared homemade nut milk divided
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice about 1 large lemon
  • 3 tablespoons raw honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon natural mineral salt

Equipment

  • 1 Ninja Professional Plus Kitchen System BN801
  • 1 small-cube stainless-steel ice tray
  • 1 Citrus juicer
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Pour 1/2 cup of the homemade milk into a small-cube stainless-steel ice tray and freeze for about 2 hours. Freeze the peeled ripe banana in pieces if you are using the banana branch.
  2. Add the frozen banana or homemade 24-hour yogurt to the Ninja BN801 pitcher. Add the milk cubes, remaining 1/2 cup homemade milk, fresh lemon juice, raw honey, and mineral salt.

  3. Secure the lid. Start the blender on low, raise it to high, and blend for 45 to 60 seconds, until the smoothie is thick, smooth, and creamy with no visible chunks.

  4. Divide between 2 glasses and serve immediately while frosty.

Notes

Use the yogurt branch only after homemade 24-hour GAPS yogurt has been introduced and tolerated through the GAPS dairy-introduction process. Use the banana branch with homemade coconut milk for a dairy-free glass. Do not use commercial rice milk, oat milk, maple syrup, potassium salt, or a flavored electrolyte mix.
