Ingredients

Ginger Lemonade
  • 2 1/2 cups filtered water
  • 1/4 cup fresh-pressed lemon juice from about 1 large lemon
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger root finely grated to measure
  • 1/8 teaspoon mineral sea salt

Equipment

  • Clear glass pitcher or 4-cup jar
  • Lemon squeezer or reamer
  • Fine stainless grater
  • Long stainless spoon or whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Fine-mesh stainless strainer, optional

Method

  1. Combine the filtered water, fresh lemon juice, raw honey, grated ginger, and mineral salt in a clear glass pitcher or 4-cup jar. Before stirring, the honey may settle in an amber layer and the ginger may float or collect near the bottom.

  2. Stir steadily, scraping the bottom several times, until no amber honey streak or salt crystals remain and the liquid looks evenly pale and lightly cloudy.
  3. For a smoother drink, set a fine-mesh stainless strainer securely across a second pitcher and strain out the ginger. Otherwise, leave the ginger in and stir once before pouring.

  4. Serve at room temperature, cool, or over ice. Cover and refrigerate leftovers for up to 2 days; stir before serving.
