Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1 person
Course: Dessert, Topping
Cuisine: American, GAPS

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons soft room-temperature tolerated butter or homemade ghee spreadable, not melted or cold
  • 1 tablespoon pure organic unsweetened cocoa powder sift if lumpy
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • natural mineral salt optional pinch
  • 1 drop homemade vanilla extract optional; no added sugar or non-GAPS additives

Equipment

  • Small glass or ceramic bowl or mug
  • Tablespoon measure
  • Stainless-steel spoon
  • Small spatula, optional
  • Small stainless strainer, optional

Method

  1. Put the soft room-temperature butter or homemade ghee, cocoa powder and raw honey in a small glass or ceramic bowl or mug. Add the optional mineral salt and homemade vanilla extract if using.
Two tablespoons soft butter, one tablespoon cocoa and one tablespoon raw honey before mixing
  2. Press and stir with the back of a stainless-steel spoon until the cocoa is fully moistened and the frosting is smooth, creamy and evenly colored, with no dry cocoa pockets or honey streaks. Serve at once or transfer to a covered glass container.
Smooth chocolate frosting endpoint with a stainless spoon resting securely in the ceramic bowl

Notes

Later Full GAPS: Pure organic cocoa is occasional only after digestive symptoms are gone.
Fat: Use tolerated butter or homemade ghee at soft room temperature. Do not melt it.
Scaling: The 2x control gives 4 tablespoons fat, 2 tablespoons cocoa, 2 tablespoons raw honey, up to 2 drops optional homemade vanilla and 2 servings. The optional mineral salt remains a small pinch to taste rather than an automatic doubled mound.
Storage: Refrigerate covered up to 7 days or freeze up to 3 months. Thaw chilled and stir after softening at room temperature.
